The following are paper grades for recycling (industry standards set forth by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries for 2009).
Soft mixed papers are made up of sorted and clean paper types of various quality including type of fiber.
Hard mixed papers include clean and sorted papers of differing qualities that has some ground wood.
Used brown kraft bags for paper recycling are free of unwanted liners and original content.
De-ink quality special news for paper recycling consists of fresh sorted newspapers that are free from sun damage. This grade does not t include anything other than news such as magazines, and is tare-free.
Over-issue news for paper recycling is comprised of unused, overrun newspaper that’s bundled and doesn’t contain more than the normal percentage of colored sections and rotogravure.
Corrugated containers for paper recycling have jute, Kraft or test liners.
Double sorted corrugated containers for paper recycling has jute, Kraft or test liners. These materials often come from supermarkets and commercial/industrial locations. This paper grade is specially sorted to be free of boxboard, offshore corrugated material, wax and plastic.
Used brown kraft bags for paper recycling are free of unwanted liners and original content.
Mixed kraft cuttings for paper recycling consist of new brown Kraft cuttings, sheets and bag scrap that doesn’t contain stitched paper.
Sorted office paper for recycling is paper generated by offices that has mostly white and colored paper that’s free from unbleached fiber and ground wood. It may also have a small amount of ground wood computer and fax paper materials.
No. 1 bleached cup stock for recycling is comprised of sheets or cuttings of uncoated or coated base stock that’s untreated. Cuttings with a slight bleed may be incorporated.
No. 2 printed bleached cup stock for recycling consists of untreated and printed formed cups and cup die cuts. It also includes misprinted sheets of uncoated or coated cup base stock.
